Anxiety Help - s Anxiety Normal for Healthcare Student?

Is Anxiety Normal for Healthcare Student?

I am currently a student in the healthcare industry and will be (along with doctors and others) responsible for the well being of many critical care patients in a hospital setting when I graduate. I chose this field because I love to help people and felt that I was wasting my love of science and problem solving on office jobs. Of course, as most health industry jobs, the pay is very good for the amount of schooling required and this contributed to my decision as well.

Do any other healthcare students have these fears and anxiety?

Everyone who's a decent person is going to have fears and anxiety like that. You'll have people you'll help treat and maybe it won't be perfect each time, but that's what the follow up is for.

Anxiety Help - Anti Anxiety Drug Can Make a Positive Difference

Anti Anxiety Drug Can Make a Positive Difference

"I couldnt believe this tiny little pill was going to make a positive difference in my anxious life. But it did. In fact, I wish I had asked my doctor about taking an anti anxiety drug years ago."

The danger with medication occurs when the user becomes over dependent on the anti anxiety pill, or when the very thought of forgetting to bring the medication with you triggers a panic attack.

"Many who experience panic attacks fear that a visit to the doctor will only lead to them being told that their condition is far worse than they imagined. There seems to be some misleading information out there that makes some people feel guilty and weak simply for needing an anti anxiety drug to help them get through the day."

Anxiety Help - Stress and Anxiety - Trigger Depression

Stress and Anxiety - Trigger Depression

Is it possible for stress and anxiety to trigger depression?

Yes, but I think you've been advised incorrectly. Anxiety can cause a wide range of problems. If left unchecked it can cause severe physical problems as well.

You will probably need professional help to determine the problem. First, though, sit down with a pencil and paper and list what, you think, would be causing your anxiety. Since this is an overwhelming task, break it down into parts:

Anxiety Help - Anxiety Disorder - Physical Symptoms

Anxiety Disorder - Physical Symptoms

Ive been having trouble breathing, rapid heart beats, and Ive been totally out of breath whenever I do anything cardio such as even walking up a bunch of stairs.

But can anxiety cause you to feel totally lazy and winded and make your heart beat faster and tired? If this anxiety disorder continues, can I permanently damage my heart or lungs?

I hope I can help. Ordinarily, I am not a big fan of pharmaceuticals, but when I found myself in a similar predicament my doctor prescribed a low dosage anti-depressant and I was able to function until I could address the root cause of the anxiety disorder. A pill is by no means the answer, any more that a splint is the cure for a broken leg; but it can be of some temporary help.

Anxiety Help - Starting Social Anxiety Disorder Group

Starting Social Anxiety Disorder Group

Any advice for starting a social anxiety disorder support group?

To start a social anxiety disorder support group, you need to have a place to go to. If you go to church ask if you can have a meeting there.

It never hurts to have a go-to professional that can offer info and has the time to sit in from time to time.

Anxiety Help - Social Anxiety Medication

Social Anxiety Medication

"My family was depending on me for support and I let them down. When my boss would tell me that I was scheduled to give a presentation, I just wouldn't show up for work because I was sure all those people would be pointing at me, judging me and criticizing me. I just couldn't bear it. I know it sounds irrational, but at the time it was very real to me and it was ruining my life and my career."

Jim's doctor explained to him that there are social anxiety medications available that could help him cope with his symptoms.

"My doctor prescribed psychotherapy and social anxiety medication," said Jim. "I am feeling so much better. Last night I actually went to my daughter's PTO meeting and introduced myself to the crowd."
